Heathcote born, Bendigo based, folk artist Mariah McCarthy is one of regional Victoria’s most prized possessions. Influenced by the story telling of Dylan and Young, with femininity reminiscent of Joni. This combined with her unique folk style makes for a captivating, intimate performance from the young artist.
Mariah has spent four years in Melbourne, at which time she played in folk duo Deer Prudence. The pair made notable festival appearances including Wintermoon Festival (QLD), St Albans Folk Festival (NSW), Yackandandah Folk Festival (VIC) and Majors Creek Festival (NSW) where the ladies were the recipients of the Ros Hales Memorial Award for Young Women in Music.
Mariah kept busy in 2017 performing at Kilmore Celtic Festival (VIC), Uranquinty Folk Festival (NSW), Surrey Hills Music Festival (VIC) and Bendigo Blues and Roots (VIC) as a soloist and spent the end of the year in the studio recording.
2018 has seen the acclaimed launch of Mariah’s debut EP 'Counting Sheep'. Mariah is an honest and tender performer, whose captivating live presence captures every ear in the room. Don’t miss the exquisite story telling of Mariah McCarthy.
“Mariah's voice is just beautiful. It's backed up by some emotional and pointed lyrics.” - Dave Ruby Howe (Triple J).
